Falcons honour late wife of defensive coordinator before Bears game

The Atlanta Falcons paid tribute to the late Cristina Ulbrich, wife of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, before their NFL game against the Chicago Bears on 18 October. The Falcons players wore special red shirts in her honour ahead of the match, which took place at their home stadium.

Cristina Ulbrich passed away earlier this year after battling cancer. The Falcons, a team competing in the NFC South division, showed their support for their coach during a difficult time. At the time of the game, the Falcons were 10th in the NFL standings with two wins and four losses from six games, including a recent 23-31 defeat to the Bears.

The Chicago Bears, who play in the NFC North division, recorded their fourth win of the season with the victory over Atlanta. They stood fifth in the league with a 4-2 record and a positive goal difference of 31 points. Their form included wins against teams such as the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.

Looking ahead, the Falcons will face the San Francisco 49ers on 25 October in their next NFL fixture. The Falcons aim to improve their standing after a mixed run of form, which has seen two wins and three losses in their last five games. The Bears will seek to maintain their momentum as they continue their campaign in the league.

The Falcons and Bears are both established NFL franchises, with Atlanta based in the southern city of Atlanta and Chicago representing the northern city of Chicago. The tribute to Cristina Ulbrich highlighted the close-knit nature of NFL teams beyond the competition on the field.
