Falcons release former Cowboys QB to sign Andy Dalton
The Atlanta Falcons have released quarterback Cooper Rush to make room for the signing of veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. This roster move was completed on 19 October as the Falcons look to adjust their squad amid a challenging NFL season.
Atlanta Falcons currently sit ninth in the NFL standings with two wins and four losses after six games, holding a negative point difference of 11. Their recent form includes losses to the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens, sandwiched around wins at New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. The Falcons compete in the NFC South division and are preparing for their upcoming home game against the San Francisco 49ers on 25 October.
Dalton’s arrival follows the Falcons’ efforts to strengthen their quarterback options after a mixed start to the campaign. Meanwhile, Cooper Rush, who was previously with the Dallas Cowboys, has now left the Falcons on a free transfer. The Cowboys themselves are placed 12th in the NFL with a similar record of two wins and four losses, and a point difference of minus eight.
The Falcons’ next fixture against the 49ers will be crucial as they aim to improve their standing in the league. Both teams are seeking to climb the NFL rankings as the season progresses, making roster decisions like this one significant for their campaigns.
