Experts back Knicks and Spurs for NBA opening night

SportsLine's experts and projection model have released their NBA picks and best bets for the opening night on Tuesday, 20 October, highlighting the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Both teams are expected to perform strongly as the new season begins.

The New York Knicks, based in Manhattan, are currently second in the NBA standings with no games played yet this season. Their recent form includes a narrow 122-120 win over the Toronto Raptors, though their last five results show a mixture of losses and a single win.

The San Antonio Spurs, members of the NBA's Southwest Division in the Western Conference, top the standings with no points recorded so far. They come into the season after a 126-97 victory over the Sacramento Kings and have won two of their last five games.

The Knicks are currently playing a live game against the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Spurs prepare for their next fixtures following their recent win. Both teams aim to build on their promising starts as the NBA season unfolds.
