FAQ: live scores, data and reporting
How our live scores work, where the data comes from and what to do when something looks wrong.
Data sources and delays
Where do the scores and fixtures come from?
Golatooo aggregates sports data from third-party data providers. Our servers fetch, normalise and cache that data; your browser only talks to our own site. We are not the official source of any competition and are not affiliated with any league, club or provider.
Why can a score be a few minutes behind the real match?
Providers publish updates in short cycles, and the data then passes through our servers before it reaches you. Normally that takes seconds, but during provider slowdowns, busy match days or outages a score can lag by several minutes. When we detect a delay we show a notice at the top of the list. Never use the site for betting or any decision where timing matters.
How accurate are the results and standings?
Final results and tables are usually accurate, but providers occasionally correct scores, scorers or points after the whistle. If something looks wrong, please report it and we will check it against the source and correct it.
Which sports and competitions do you cover?
Football (soccer) is our largest coverage, followed by basketball, tennis, ice hockey, baseball, American football, cricket, rugby and more. Coverage depends on what our providers publish; if a competition is missing, use the data-correction form to ask for it.
Where do the TV channels, news headlines, transfers and country facts come from?
TV listings come from ESPN (US channels) and TheSportsDB and are indicative; we never guess broadcast rights. News shows only the headline and a short excerpt and always links to the publisher’s own article. Transfers come from public league transaction feeds and Wikipedia transfer lists. Team, player and country summaries come from Wikipedia and Wikidata (CC BY-SA 4.0) and always show their source. Match previews and reports in our blog are generated automatically from live match data.
How live scores update
Do I need to refresh the page to see new scores?
No. Live pages open a lightweight real-time connection (server-sent events) and update goals, minutes, scores and statuses in place. A subtle notice appears if the connection is lost, and updates resume automatically when it returns.
Why does the page say "Connection lost — reconnecting"?
Your device temporarily lost the live connection, for example after switching networks or waking from sleep. The page reconnects by itself and fetches anything it missed. If it does not recover, reload the page.
What does "Live data is temporarily delayed" mean?
Our provider feed is slower than usual, so the scores shown may be a few minutes old. Everything catches up automatically once the feed recovers. You can check the status page for the current state of each service.
How are kick-off times displayed?
Kick-off times are converted to your own time zone in your browser, and you can change the zone from the footer. Server-rendered snapshots and search-engine previews use UTC.
Team logos and images
Why do I see initials in a coloured circle instead of a team logo?
When we cannot obtain a proper logo for a team we show a neutral initials avatar instead of a broken image or an invented crest. The colour is derived from the team, so it stays the same every time.
A team shows the wrong logo. What can I do?
Open the team page and use "Report incorrect logo". Tell us what is wrong and, if you can, link to an official source. Logo reports are reviewed and the correct image is applied after verification.
Who owns the logos and names on the site?
Team, league and competition names and logos are the property of their respective owners and are shown only to identify them. Owners who want an image changed or removed can contact us at the address on the contact page.
Reporting problems
How do I report an incorrect score or a missing match?
Use the "Report a score" form and paste the match page link. Include what you see, what you expect and, if possible, a source. We check it against our providers and fix the data.
How do I report a bug or a display problem?
Use the "Report a bug" form and describe the page, your browser and device. A screenshot (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 2 MB) helps us reproduce the problem quickly.
How quickly will you reply?
We read every message. Simple corrections are usually handled within a few days; other requests may take longer. You can also write to [email protected].
Advertising
Why does the site show ads?
Ads pay for servers, data and development so the scores stay free. We limit their number, reserve their space so the page does not jump, and never place them over a score.
Can I choose personalised or non-personalised ads?
Yes. Use the consent message (or the privacy and cookie settings link) to accept or decline personalised advertising. You can also manage it in Google Ads Settings. See the cookie policy for details.
How can I advertise or sponsor?
See the Advertise page for formats and how to contact us about sponsorships and partnerships.
Privacy and your data
What data do you collect about me?
Standard technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested), preferences stored in your browser, optional analytics and advertising identifiers where you allow them, and whatever you send us through the support forms. Read the privacy policy for the full list and retention periods.
Where are my favourites and my time zone stored?
In your browser (local storage and a small cookie for the time zone) on your device. Favourites are not sent to our servers, so clearing your browser data removes them and they do not sync between devices.
How do I ask you to delete my data?
Email [email protected] from the address you used when contacting us and tell us what to delete. We will confirm once it is done.
